Now available to order through CASE, Julie Weatherly has written a "Section 504 Process Manual - 504 Sample Forms & Procedures" that suggests processes and forms for simplifying what has often become an overwhelming and complicated process in schools. Over many years, schools have burdened themselves with unnecessary additional information, paperwork, and required procedures often going well beyond what the actual language of Section 504 and its regulations requires. The ultimate goal in producing and publishing this Manual is to assist those school entities that may find that it is time to consider reviewing or entirely recreating their 504 forms and procedures to make them more streamlined and friendly for both educators and parents.
The Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) has published a series of quick-reference guides for educators. The first "Lucky 21" guide was entitled "Avoiding Legal Disputes in Special Education: 21 Training Points for Administrators." The second "Lucky 21" guide was entitled "Section 504: 21 Myths and Realities for School Personnel" and the third "Lucky 21" guide written by Julie Weatherly addresses Discipline of Students with Disabilities. All three of these have been recently revised, updated and renamed "CASE Essentials." For more information and ordering: https://www.casecec.org/case-store
